YOUTH ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING
Ikhumiseng has taken on board the entire technical team that implemented the
USAID/PEPFAR funded ASPIRES SA programme under Save the Children, now reconstituted
as Ikhumiseng. ASPIRES SA was a 2.5 years response to the dilemma and desire to
implement youth ES programming integrated with HIV prevention education to reach
at-risk youth, but for whom livelihoods-oriented programming was new.
This intervention has been implemented for the YW&Gās programme under Global Fund
from Mar ā18 to Mar ā19 in two of the districts in South Africa, identified as
serving the most vulnerable communities of young women aged 19 ā 24, being Zululand
in KZN and Greater Sekhukhune in Limpopo and thru FHI360 in KwaZulu-Natal
The ECONOMIC STRENGHTENING programme has five pillars that build the capacity of
young people to believe in their own potential to create their own futures based on
their aspiration
